I must have loved the show, cause I sure remember Grandpa Schnitzel. But I remember him best when after child modeling in so many shows for Sears in Oakville, feeling rather envious of everyone in the audience eating hot dogs, chips and cake, I got to be the one all the other kids wanted to be cause, me at 5 years old, had be escorted down the run way on one side by my Grandfather and the other by Grandpa Schnitzel, himself. Somewhere in my Mom's photo albums, there are a few pictures, but I'm well into my 5th decade and still remember bits of it.

I use to watch this show as a 11 or 12 year old not because I was entertained in the true sense of being a kid, but because I thought it was so outrageously campy and ridiculous even then. "Is this not a veener-schnitzel? Yes dis is a veener-schnitzel." Oh my gawd. I use to laugh my head off. Forget Mr. Dress-up or The Friendly Giant. They had nothing on this big Bavarian buffoon in lederhosen.
