Treehouse Club, The (Series) (1971-?)
Each week a group of children climbed the ladder to the Treehouse to be greeted by Danny and his puppet friends JoJo and Frank. The show was built around Danny Coughlan's ability as a singer and his skill in drawing. The content was based on Ted Rooney's five textbooks which deal with reading, mathematics, spelling, grammar and sensory-motor body balance exercises. The script contained many elements of cautionary wisdom and exhortations for conventional manners. Visitors included regulars such as Lisa, the mailgirl who arrived with letters to Danny. She then stayed on to demonstrate, with the children's participation, some useful physical exercises. Later in the series, on-location segments were added, e.g., Danny's interviews with Wayne Gretzky, a feature on the Blue Jays, and how to become a good baseball player. The drawing segments later included the use of computers. The program was produced by CKCO-TV.

I was on this show when I was a kid and would like to get a hold of a copy of it.It was the episode when they went to the golf coarse
The two things I remember most, Danny's out of tune guitar, and the change of his hair colour from blonde to black, or was it black to blonde ?

It would have been around the mid '70s when my brother's baseball team were guests on Danny's show. I would love to find a clip of this to surprise my brother on his 50th birthday, next year. I am enjoying showing my kids the shows that I used to watch as a kid.....this was one of them. Memories of how simple life was way back then.

My Father is Ted
Rooney, the creator and director. I miss this show and all the actors, yes I said actors!
Hard to find these days. Danny was one of a kind, as was Betty Thompson! My mother Kathleen hand built, and painted the original set, and I was on 36 shows. I have some originals in my possession if anyone is interested. Those were great days in Stratford!
LOL

Back in my memory, I remember an insurance salesman visiting my parents, Jim and Nellie McCully, in Stratford to tell them he was leaving the insurance biz to become a recording artist on Capitol Records. Then came Treehouse Club and the rest is history. It was wonderful to see you again, Danny.

Thanks a lot for posting that video clip. A real trip.
Unfortunately, the intro to this episode is an animated version. If Anyone has a copy of the earlier version, with the kids all running along the Avon River, Please let us know how to contact you.
Either digital or on tape. We would like to get a copy for one of the youngsters who is about to get married.
Many thanks in advance!
