Ad Lib was a short-lived series on CJAY-TV in Winnipeg. It was hosted by CJAY News Director (and future politician) Bud Sherman. The format was simply an evening around a coffee table with finger foods while Bud chatted with well-known local guests about the changing sexual scene in the country. Controversy hit especially hard when Bud asked a guest (a prominent Winnipeg lawyer) if he believed in pre-marital sex and the guest responded in the affirmative. Executive producer Barry Gordon says, "The do-gooder ripples ran through Winnipeg the following days and even Time Magazine had an article on the program. Alas, we were ahead of our time and the program was cancelled."
