Special Place, A (Series) (1971)

A Special Place was a children's series produced in Hamilton by Bill Lawrence who also created and acted in the show. Lawrence pre-recorded voices for the two puppets (one of which was named Penny) and conversed on-camera with them. Sandy Hoyt appeared on the show as the elderly Mr. Nickel. The program aired in reruns on CHCH-TV until the mid 70's.

"It's time to leave our Special Place,
We hope that you had fun...
We'll all be waiting here next time..
It's fun for everyone!"

This is from my memory only and the last line might be slightly wrong. This show was my favorite as a five year old. Bill Lawrence and Sandy Hoyt were entertaining and comforting and I really enjoyed the arts and crafts segment when they would make things from paper. And if my memory is correct, they used to bring out a birthday cake to wish happy birthday to those children having a birthday. I used to sing the end song to myself. I sure would love to get the videos to watch again.
