Music Canada (Series) (1984)

Music Canada was a series of four musical programs which aired on the CBC in the summer of 1984. The Victoria Symphony Orchestra got a little help from five talented musicians — all between the ages of 11 and 14 — to kick off the series. In the opener, soloists Michele Himick (piano); Bridget Macrae (cello); Gary Chow (piano); Katjo Cerovsek (violin); and Corey Cerovsek (violin) joined the VSO for some youthful music. In the remaining programs, the University of Victoria Chorus joined the VSO for some patriotic music; "My Friend Ludwig," a program of fun with the music of Beethoven, featuring pianist Elyakim Taussig and musicians from the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra; and the final program featured excerpts from operas.
