Bet Your Bottom Dollar (Series) (1963)

Bet Your Bottom Dollar was a Canadian-produced and originated night-time game show and was the first prime-time quiz series to offer contestants a chance to win up to $1000 in cash and a new car each week.

The show offered contestants an interesting challenge to bet their knowledge for money and against each other. Each contestant to start the game received $100 and was given a chance to parlay the money by betting on their ability to answer questions put to them by Dick Curtis. The object was to reach the jackpot and an opportunity to win the new car.

Dick Curtis was a versatile comedy star who made Canada his home base. He came to Canada from the United States via Australia in 1962 to star on the CTV variety series Network. Gillian Elmitt, who assisted Dick by handing out questions on the show was a native of North Bay, Ont.

Bet Your Bottom Dollar debuted on the CTV network on June 10, 1963 and aired for only a few months.
