Just Like Mom (Series) (1980-1987)

Just Like Mom
Just Like Mom was a game show built on a child-mother relationship. Viewers wrote in requesting the opportunity to participate from all parts of Canada. Producer Paul Burford said that the source of the request was usually the child. The show was originally hosted by Stephen Young and Catherine Swing. Executive producer Fergie Olver later took over hosting duties from Young, joining Swing (who was his wife). The hosts introduced three mothers who were asked questions such as "What does ____ do when he/she accompanies you to the supermarket?" The answers were noted and then the child was introduced and asked the same question. If the answers matched, points were scored.

Every attempt was made to screen out acquisitive, ambitious or competitive parents because Burford aimed to de-emphasize competition and the materialistic goals of winning prizes by stressing the mother-child relationship and putting the emphasis on a positive lifestyle. The show was carried on over twenty stations and was seen by over 2,000,000 viewers.

Sidney M. Cohen directed 2 seasons.

Robin Hood was the show's major sponsor.

Stephen Young .... Co-Host (early episodes)

I have been searching like crazy as I really want this episode and apparently someone I know actually saw me in the audience on a show a few weeks ago! I missed that though!

Try this website, someone there claims they may be able to help...it's worth a try!

Hello, I am looking for an episode that I was in. It was when Fergie and Kathy were hosting. My name is Sheryl and my mother is Pam (Pamela). We were in the second position (or middle).

Can someone help me to achieve a copy of this. My brother taped over it many many years ago.

Thanks, Sheryl

I can't believe I found this posting just in time! My episode, 36, airs this Wednesday on gametv. The problem is I no longer live in Canada. Has anyone had any luck tracking down copies from gametv? I have been searching for this for over half of my life! Wow.

I really loved watching this show. I have game show network and it replays a lot of old game shows including this one. I also wanted to be on the show and am sooooo jealous of all of you who were actually on it. Why not try to contact the game show network at http://www.gsn.com/cgi/shows/index.html
and see if they can put you in the right direction on how to get a copy of your tape. I tried looking on the site to see ( they have a list of 30 shows, but this one is not listed..and I know they have played reruns of it recently).

Loved the show. I am looking for a copy as well. I know it was in the eighties, thinking maybe at the very beginning either 80 or 81. It would be under Adam/Maureen. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. I know my grandson would love to see his dad. Thanks

Does anyone know how to go about getting footage for this show? Looking specifically at the first season with the host Stephen Young.
I too was on the show with my Mom, I can't remember the year. My father recorded over the tape we had made :( Has anyone found out how to get a copy of your episode yet? I would love to get one for my parents - they have been trying to TVO the show hoping ours airs!! I would love to surprise them :) It was such a special and awesome day for all of us!
