Disability Network, The (Series) (1990-1997)

Aka: D-Net

This award-winning program offers an innovative exploration of how life is lived by those with disabilities. The half-hour magazine-style program alternates with full-length documentaries that are researched, produced and hosted by people with disabilities. Disability Network provides valuable consumer information and asks relevant questions that are of concern to people with disabilities and society as a whole.

Initially co-produced by the Centre for Independent Living of Toronto (CILT) Inc. and CBC, "The Disability Network" was the first program in North America on disability issues to be produced by people with disabilities. The Foundation on Independent Living took over co-production duties from CILT in 1993.
