Tommy Banks Show, The (Series) (1968-1976)

Award-winning pianist, composer, arranger and conductor (and now Canadian Senator) Tommy Banks fronted this musical variety and interview show from Edmonton. It aired locally for a few seasons before being broadcast on the full CBC network from 1971 to 1974. Tommy moved over to CITV in Edmonton where a series was syndicated from 1974 to 1976. By then it was the longest running variety and talk show in Canada. The program was brassy, loud, and all show-biz, like Banks himself, as he welcomed a stream of guest performers, both Canadian and foreign.
