Take a Chance (Series) (1961-1965)

Take A Chance, once a radio quiz show, was revamped for CTV by Roy Ward Dickson, its host and creator. The weekly quiz show was produced in the studios of Toronto's private station, CFTO-TV, starting Oct. 2, 1961. The program had a live audience, with Sheila Billings (Miss Toronto of 1955) as hostess. She helped contestants test their skill at word games and puzzles. Contestants took chances on easy vs. hard questions, cash vs. merchandise, and expensive prizes vs. gag prizes. A home-opponent was selected for each contestant.

Take a Chance was the first CTV gameshow, and remained on the schedule for a very successful five years.
