Peter Appleyard Presents (Series) (1977-1980)

Aka: Jazz With Appleyard

Peter Appleyard Presents was a jazz program shot in front of a live audience at the Brunswick House. For three seasons, the series was the only regular jazz television program in North America. The show was retitled Jazz With Appleyard in its last season.

Joining Peter Appleyard during the series were pianist Earl (Fatha) Hines, vibraphonist Lionel Hampton, clarinetist Bob Wilber, vocalists Linda Hopkins , John Sebastian, Jay (Screamin') Hawkins, Joe (Big) Turner, singer-pianist Blossom Dearie with the Maple Leaf Jazz Band, trombone player Turk Murphy, Jim Galloway and the Metro Stompers, guitarist Barney Kessel and the Terry Clarke Trio, among others. The series also featured comedians Jerry Van Dyke, Pete Barbutti and Charlie Callas.
