Music to See (Series) (1957)

Music To See was the title of a CBC-TV series in which musicologist Helmut Blume hoped to prove that music can make an interesting topic for viewers as well as listeners. Making the camera do the work, the series explored the interior of a piano, watched the harpsichord produce its characteristic sound, showed viewers a medieval minstrel performing his professional duty of entertaining with somersaults, tight-rope walking and singing. Another project was the staging of an authentic medieval musical play, and the fascinating story of how musical notation was developed will be graphically told.
