Season One

Nov 5, 1990 - "The Power of Positive Thinking." Max is reluctant to tell his parents that he wants to strike a romantic chord with Celia, a young Polish girl he's teaming up with for a piano competition. After consulting the quirky Rabbi Teitleman, though, Max decides to speak up.

Nov 12, 1990- "Love's Labor." A boating incident in cottage country causes a rift between the Glicks and the Brzjinskis that only Rabbi Teitleman knows how to fix.

Nov 19, 1990 - "Can I Get a Witness?" Max is shocked when Celia informs him that she's confessed their first kiss to her priest. Max decides to confess to Rabbi Teitelma, only to discover that Jews only do that once a year... so Max takes things into his own hands.

Nov 26, 1990 - "The Beausejour Bonspiel." Despite his lack of ability, Max's family insists he play on the curling team.

Dec 3, 1990 - "The Nuclear Family." Max learns some cold facts about nuclear war. Asked to plan a model fallout shelter as part of a school project. Max can't understand why his partner Celia is so upset by the task—until she shows him photos ot the aftermath of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. Suddenly realizing the true destructive power of atomic bombs and the futility of homemade shelters, a scared Max decides to abandon his assignment in favor of a more effective class presentation.

Dec 10, 1990 - "Time Is on Your Side.' Visiting friends of the family help Max realize that his grandparents were once young and had problems similar to his own.

Jan 7, 1991 - "Make Room for Daddy." Max thinks his boy scout camping trip is over when dad and grandad show up.

Jan 14, 1991 - "The 12 Labors of Maxules." Max does not get paid for working at the family store so he decides to get a real job.

Jan 21, 1991 - "Music Hath Charms." Max and Celia must compete against each other in the upcoming Beethoven competition.

Jan 28, 1991 - "Divine Comedians" Max imagines a career in journalism.

Feb 4, 1991 - "Queen for a Day." Max prepares for his first real date with Celia but not without some advice from his mother.

Feb 11, 1991 - "Watch the Skies." Amateur astronomer Max sends the town into a xenophobic frenzy after he thinks he's spotted a flying saucer.

Mar 4, 1991 - "Give Me Puberty or Give Me Death." Max discovers that there is more to growing up than meets the eye.


Season Two

Oct 4, 1991 - "The Wife of Bath's Tale." Congestion in the Glick family bathroom leads to envy and dissatisfaction.

Oct 11, 1991 - "Future Shock." Max's innocent fun with a Ouija board turns serious when the board makes a terrifying prediction.

Oct 18, 1991 - "Career Day." School career day opens up new possibilities for Max; Mr. Glick collides with grandfather over the family business.

Oct 25, 1991 - "Cousin Sophie." Max can't understand why his family tolerates visits from his abrasive Aunt Sophie (Marilyn Lightstone), until he inadvertently discovers some secrets about her past.

Nov 1, 1991 - "The Odd Couples." Max glimpses another side of his father when Sarah travels to the city, leaving the two alone for the night.

Nov 8, 1991 - "Max and Dougie and Stephanie and Max." Max tries to find a date for his best friend Dougie (Stephen Lombard) with little success.

Nov 15, 1991 - "We Stand on Guard." Max and his pals take a stand against racism in an episode that recalls the latter half of 1964, when Canada was choosing a new flag. Trouble begins when the class is asked to enter new flag designs in a contest, with first prize being a free trip to Ottawa. But when Max learns that the original winner (Eugene Chang) has been relegated to runner up because he's Chinese, he abandons the flag-waving and sets out on the revenge trail.

Nov 22, 1991 - "Get an Afterlife." Max becomes concerned about the hereafter when his grandfather decides to buy a family burial plot.

Nov 29, 1991 - "Anybody Feel a Draft?" Max has a hard time understanding why Rabbi Teitleman has returned to the U.S. to honor his draft notice rather than obtain religious exemption.

Dec 6, 1991 - "Das Winnebago." The Glicks take a holiday—and torrential rain forces them to spend the time together inside.

Dec 13, 1991 - "Of Mice and Max." When a former mental patient is found hiding inside an abandoned hospital, Max and Stephanie (Virginia Bagnato) learn that some problems don't have easy answers.

Dec 20, 1991 - "Dear Sarah." Sarah finds a letter written to her by Henry just before they were married.

Dec 27, 1991 - "This Half-Hour Has 2 1/2 Days." Max's ego takes over when he tries to make a film.
