Love and Hate: The Story of Colin and JoAnne Thatcher (Miniseries) (1989)

Aka: Love and Hate: A Marriage Made in Hell

Love and Hate: The Story of Colin and JoAnne Thatcher
"Love and Hate: The Story of Colin and JoAnn Thatcher" was a 2-part miniseries dramatizing the events surrounding the Saskatchewan cabinet minister convicted of killing his ex-wife. Thatcher, a millionaire rancher, politician and son of the premier of the province, was charged with the brutal stabbing-and-shooting death of his former wife and went to trial in the fall of 1984. For 28 days, the attention of the country was focused on the trial and all of its voyeuristic elements: a Palm Springs mistress, a bom-again defence lawyer, an ex-con informer and high-profile politicians. It is a story the media could not get enough of. and one that was too tempting for even normally sober Canadian television to ignore.

As as Saskatchewan legal educator, I am also looking to add Saskatchewan content to my program. The Colin Thachter story is one that my students explore a great deal. I am interested in obtaining a copy of this program. If anyone knows how to do this I would be interested. I have sent e-mails directly to CBC numerous times however no one responds to my requests.
