Hudson's Bay (Series) (1959-1960)

Hudson's Bay
In this series, Barry Nelson starred as Jonathon Banner, chief trader of the Hudson's Bay Company. Banner presented an appealing personality. Played against the background of his demanding job was a strange paradox of character. Banner never struck a man with whom he couldn't reason, never shot a man whom he could strike. He was a reasonable and just man who did his duty with as little bloodshed as possible. However, when forced to face it, he commanded attention with his resolute strength and courage.

The series was outdoor action-adventure of a type never before conceived or produced for television. It had a sweeping realism encompassing one of the most fantastic eras in history.

Although the two main actors were American, most of the supporting cast were Canadian, as was producer/director Sidney J. Furie. The series was filmed in Kleinburg, Ontario (in fact, the same fort was used in the Forest Rangers).
