Hobby Workshop (Series) (1953-1955)
Tom Martin, who was the assistant supervisor of art for the Toronto Public Schools system, provided instructions and supervision for children on how to make things with simple tools.
Hobby Workshop focused on the use of practical materials available in the home. Tom Martin was able to use his skills as an art educator to organize the activities of both the children on the set and his young viewers to make the learning experience pleasurable. While he was a most competent art educator, the show rarely revealed the relationship between the "busy work" of the children at the craft tables and the excitement of creative activity, the joy in completing a creative endeavour
