Encounter (Series) (1970-1974)

Encounter succeeded Press Conference as the CBC's forum for questioning Canada's major polical figures. Three members of the press put questions to leaders such as Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, former Prime Minister Lester Pearson, Real Caouette, leader of the Social Credit Party, Finance Minister Edgar Benson, Labour Minister Bryce Mackasey, Alberta Premier Peter Lougheed, NDP leader David Lewis, former NDP leader Tommy Douglas, External Affairs Minister Mitchell Sharp, and Progressive Conservative leader Robert Stanfield.
