Bits and Bytes
In this series, computer neophyte, Billy Van, is guided by host, Luba Goy, to personal computers. He learns about basic principles of computers through demonstrations of various hardware and software, interviews of computer professionals and animated sequences explaining the more abstract concepts.

After Billy Van's original introduction to computers, he returned in 1991 to introduce a new female student into the world of personal computers of that time through the same format as with the original show.

Here i am, almost at the end of 2006 and i find myself wishing that the 60 some odd users that i support had all watched Bits and Bytes. I remember watching this as a kids and now reflect back on it's true value. I remember watching this as a kids and now reflect back on it's true value. It shows people why things work the way they do and therefore realize both the potential and limits of technology, whatever it might be.

Some day i will find this on DVD or in some lost archive and i'll make it mandatory viewing material for all new users.

They only do what we tell them to do, remember the little computer with the short legs, following you instructions to the letter. If only people would ready the questions the computers present them. They would find most of their problems would then be solved...
